March 2025 update
Philip Dart is about to embark on an exciting project with MA students at Rose Bruford College in Sidcup. In April he will work with the students over two weeks to explore the skills and techniques required to adapt a literary work for the stage. Under Philip's guidance, the group will find ways to interpret Elizabeth Gaskell's 19th century novella Lois the Witch for a stage performance. Gaskell's short story is set at the time of the Salem witch trials and is a forerunner of Arthur Miller's iconic play The Crucible.
In May Philip will start rehearsals for his next production at Vienna's English Theatre. What’s in a Name? is a play by M. Delaporte & A. de la Patellière. Originally known as Le Prénom, it has proved to be one of the most successful plays to emerge from France in the last decade. Rapturously received by critics and audiences alike, this dark comedy has already been adapted into two films. Jeremy Sams’ translation transfers the action from a trendy Parisian suburb to Peckham, London's newest hipster district. The production will run in Vienna between 20 May and 5 July 2025.
